This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used and shared when you use the MyProteinBuddy application ("the App"), operated by Olivia Chen ("we", "us" or "our"). The App is available as a mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

Email address
Password (stored securely via Firebase Authentication — we never have access to your plaintext password)

If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from your Google account. We do not receive or store your Google password.

Protein Data

Consumed foods and their respective protein contents
Protein goals

Communication Data

Support messages you send to us

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

Provide, maintain and improve the App
Create and manage your account
Display your protein data
Respond to support requests

We do not use your data for advertising, sell your data to third parties or build advertising profiles.

3. How We Share Your Information

Service providers: We use the following third-party service to operate the App:

Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore database, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions) — stores and processes your data on our behalf

This providers only process your data as necessary to provide their services to us and are subject to their own privacy policies.

We do not sell, rent or share your personal information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored in Google Firebase infrastructure. We use industry-standard security measures including:

Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
Firebase Authentication with secure password hashing
Firestore security rules restricting data access to authorized users

While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory reasons.

You have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Correct inaccurate personal data via your profile settings
Delete your account and associated data by contacting us
Export your data by contacting us

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
